In order to get the most out of the cordless phones that have multiple handset capabilities you should consider getting one of the 2-line cordless phones. Just because your phone has the capability to connect two handsets to it does not mean that each of you using the handsets will not have to wait in order to place your call. Even with two handsets, if you have single line phones you can only make one call at a time. The other handset will just have to sit and wait to be used until the other person is done with their call and hangs up. To figure out if your existing phone has the two line capability today just examine it’s wiring on its main unit. If you see you have the four wires in the phones cable it is ready for you to apply for that other phone line. If you only have the 2 wires you will need to call the phone company provider and find out about installing the other two wires required in your cables. If you do not currently have a landline and are looking into this you should consider looking into theses types of phones.

They are great for the office and the home business. Having one line open for private conversations with the other for work related calls. Keep in mind too though that with these phones comes an additional fee on your monthly phone bill. But this could be well worth the extra money when you look at your privacy.

They have other features that are standard such as phone books, caller ID, call waiting, backlit keypads, auto dial, and answering machines to name a few of them. Manufacturers are always trying to compete with each other and adding new features to their phones, making them more functional, but if you don’t use some of the components you might want to choose another 2-line cordless phone that has a few less features that you won’t spend money on that you do not use.
